The Student
As a UKTK Student you'll be in great company. Mixing with other students of all races, ages and abilities, receiving comprehensive and understanding instruction in one of the fastest growing mixed Martial Arts Styles in the UK today. UKTK remains the first choice for children, families and adults from all walks of life including professional adults such as qualified fitness instructors to senior admin clerks.

The Style
United Kingdom Tao Karate combine the benefits of Traditional Karate, Freestyle Sport Karate, Kick and Thai Boxing and Grappling Arts to bring to the student a well rounded style that can be used effectively in a street self defence situation as well as practiced as a fun and exciting sport.

Traditional Karate
- an art to build character, discipline and focus from which we derive our traditional hand, elbow and knee techniques as well as our basic blocks and kicks.

Freestyle Sport Karate - an art derived from a mix of traditional karate and kickboxing from which we take our semi contact points sparring competitions.

Thai & Kickboxing - an intense full contact cardio vascular activity that adds modern applications to our technique.

Grappling - defensive art that teaches escapes from holds and grabs using throws, takedowns and submission techniques used in standing and ground applications.

A Mixed Martial Art
- Students joining UKTK will all have their own reasons, to get fit, to learn to protect themselves, to enter competition or even to gain confidence. Whatever the reason UKTK can be tailored specifically to the student, for example a student wanting fitness would probably benefit from training -

30% Kick & Thai boxing for cardio fitness & power
30% Freestyle Sport Karate for speed & flexibility
25% Grappling for strength
15% Traditional Karate for technique

This would differ for a student joining purely for self defence reasons.
